A Personalized and Customizable Rankings Tool

In considering a university to attend, many students may find the rankings provided by the existing agencies to be unhelpful and / or misleading. They may have their own personal set of wants and needs that are not met by the agencies’ rankings.
According to Christopher Eisgruber, president of Princeton University, in an opinion piece entitled “I lead America’s top-ranked university.” “Here’s why these rankings are a problem. Rankings…are a misleading way to assess colleges and universities. There are lots of great places to get an education. America’s colleges and universities work collaboratively to educate the wide variety of people seeking degrees. Different schools may suit different students.”
With our innovative U-score tool, stakeholders now have a way to compare universities in terms of the set of evaluation criteria that personally suits them the best without the distraction of unhelpful and misleading rankings.
The U.S. Department of Education’s ‘College Scorecard’ partially addresses this personalization issue. It allows students to compare universities on a number of dimensions without the consideration of their rankings. The downsides of the Scorecard: (1) the evaluation criteria are limited and (2) it does not include universities outside of the U.S.
